HD - Jackson's Chameleon
Description
While checking the mail one day I saw this creature walking on the road. I went back inside and got my video camera. By then it was on the grass and moving fast. I had never seen one before on the Big Island of Hawaii. But when I looked on the internet I saw that it an introduced species that found its way to most of the Hawaiian Islands. The first one was said to have gotten away from a pet store on Oahu. And, there have been many more that escaped or were let go over the years. The common name is Jackson's Chameleon. The scientific name is either Chameaeleo jacksonii, or Trioceros jacksonii. I have seen it called both. It was about one foot long. I have never seen it again.
